Raccoon Home Removal
Raccoons can drive you CRAZY! Constantly getting into your garbage, tearing holes in your roof, getting into your house and completely making a mess of the place. They have adapted to living with humans. They have learned that garbage cans and dumpsters are excellent sources of food, and that houses are excellent habitat.
Raccoons are known for being voracious foragers. When awake, they are constantly searching for food. If you have pets that you feed outside or on a porch, there is a real good chance that you are feeding raccoons too. Don’t be surprised if you notice tears in your screen porch—not much of a challenge for a raccoon to gain entrance. A raccoon issue must be addressed immediately. They are known to carry a number of parasites and diseases (rabies) that can affect people or pets.
Like many mammals, raccoons are primarily night hunter though it isn’t uncommon to see them during the day. They will eat almost anything they can get those crafty hands on. Just because you live in an urban setting, don’t assume you are safe. They are well adapted for survival in cities. They like to den in trees, but they love to den in attics.
How Bugs on the Bayou Conducts Raccoon Home Removal
- We will do a thorough inspection of your property and home to identify the extent of damage, if any.
- The only real means of getting rid of raccoons is through trapping and removal of the animals. We will typically search for a litter of baby raccoons, and remove them by hand before trapping and removing the female raccoon.
- If it’s just raccoons outside causing trouble, they can be trapped and removed, although they are very clever and it make take us a few attempts until we finally capture them. We do NOT use lethal traps!
- Once trapped, we will take the raccoons to a remote location and humanely let them go back into nature
Don’t try to capture or repel them yourself. Most, if not all products available are completely ineffective. Trapping is the only permanent solution. It is best to have a professional trap and remove the animals properly.
